Have spent most of my life within the Hospitality and Catering industry, originally training as a chef in London and later going into Hotel, Restaurant and Pub Management.
I then moved into Marketing where I spent seven years as General Manager for a exhibition company specialising in Home Design and Interiors Exhibitions in Stately Homes around the country.
I returned to the Industry but this time at sea and spent a total of 15 years working in the merchant navy as an officer.
In November 2003 I decided to "come ashore" and purchased the Greenmount. Over the last seven years we have worked hard to make all the roooms en suite and have reduced the number of bed spaces to make many of the rooms more comfortable.
In 2010 it was decided that we would change the way we marketed the Greenmount and started using on line booking agencies. At the same time we decided to go for our National Accreditation.
In order to achieve this we had to meet certain criteria. This we did and at the same time we replaced the whole of our dining room to give it a more modern feeling. It was with great pride In October 2010 we were awarded our three star guest accomodation.
We now have a selection of Twins, Doubles, Family rooms, 2 Four Poster Bed rooms and also two rooms which interconnect via the bathroom ( great for those families with older children).
Our website truly reflects our rooms as all the rooms were photographed professionally in August 2010, although we continue to upgrade our rooms (see 2011).
For some reason unknown to us we seem to have become the victims of a smear campaign on a review website as well as receiving hoax bookings.
Whilst most reviews on these sites may be genuine, some of these sites can be subject to misuse by unscrupulous hoteliers(competitors), their well meaning family and friends, malicious individuals and even the sites themselves. Please use them as a guide only, having many regular guests returning each year including families, a Catholic School and many couples it would suggest that they cannot all be wrong.
Thank You
